welcome, visitor 5,001. i appreciate your business.

so this new kid at the og has a metal band looking for a singer... and homeboy happens to be a singer looking for a metal band...

last night was said metal band's drummer's birthday party, so kid from work thought it would be a great opportunity to meet homeboy and kind of get a feel for his level of interest and whatnot. whatever, i just wanted to drink.

homeboy couldn't make it. i still wanted to drink.

luckily, i left work in a great mood and actually felt alright about venturing to a party where i only knew one person and knowing that i would have to talk to strangers.

i showed up at the party. kid from work was wearing a polo shirt. fuck. i hate polo shirts. mostly, i hate the type of people that wear polo shirts. his collar was not popped, so i didn't want to be too judgemental. i let it slide. it was for the best.

i met some really interesting people and they dug my shit, which means they understood that i was waay cooler than everyone else there.

made some friends, whatever.

no. not whatever. i was happy about it.

several hours later, homeboy showed up... in a polo shirt. ((what the fuck, was he trying to blow my cover?)) but he also does not pop his collar, so i let it slide again. but it turns out he has known all these kids that i've been chatting up all night since grade two.

i just can't have my own thing when this kid is around!! he has to win everyone over with his cuteness and personality and polo shirts. whatever.

after kid from work's party, we went to yetanotherjx's after party where he continued to talk shit about my polo-wearing-homeboy in a wickedly upsetting attempt to get me in bed. although the late-night text of "nice boobs. i want them" almost won me over...

also, i kicked ass in drunken bones. i do believe i'm undefeated... but i drink a lot.

i did not wake up sober.

i took the focus back to the ford dealership per norm's request to get it re-inspected. ((and a full tank of gass))

upon my arrival, all of the 60-something car salesmen were standing around watching nascar highlights. woohoo. something in my faux-hawk and ultra-big sunglasses showed that i was not a nascar fan, and they offered to change the channel. there was a huge sigh of relief when i requested cnn.

clinton and obama were campaigning in unity, new hampshire. this triggered political debates between pro-obama faux-hawk yankee girl vs. near-retirement texan-republican car salesmen. mostly just the rise in taxes vs. the fall of the american dollar. oldschool republicans are so silly.

post-debate i stepped outside for a smoke and was joined by smirking norm, my car salesman. he admitted to being an obama fan. haha

we started talking about music. and as it turns out, he used to be a member of the marquettes. 70's surf music predating the beach boys.

he then continued to talk about other musicians in his family, including his nephew playing similar music out of chatanooga, tennessee. as a matter of fact, he was just in town several months ago, playing in denton...

BAND LE GRAND!

hot damn.

smallworldcentral5000.

the lonesome death of hattie carroll by rx bandits
the lonesome death of hattie carroll by bob dylan

((it's on repeat))

happy mengtar photo catchup day!

there is a definite possibility that something is wrong with snowflake this morning. he croaked at me for a solid five minutes after homeboy left. apparently i will not be falling back to sleep, though i don't work for another threepointfive hours.

then he stared at me for a solid half hour. just staring at me. occasionally he would open his mouth like he was going to start croaking again... but didn't. then he just turned around and walked away, but i swear he shook his head first. he didn't even hop away. he WALKED away... not upright, but definitely walked.

i'm not over it.

i met homeboy up at jupiter house last night to dick around on our computers and do crosswords and watch him study and such. we were approached by three wonderously dressed gents saying they were from out of town and were playing at andy's at 10... it was 9.50...

i was FAR too distracted by their attire to be able to think up a legit response, so i let homeboy play that role. curlyhaired guitarist guy had a floral button-up that rivaled my living room curtains under a jean jacket and longhaired singer guy had some sweet white leather kicks that i hope to god were italian, just because he's cool enough to say it and be completely awesome, aka not a prick. bassist dude that looked like boros had a vest. i love vests and i think i need one... now. i could pull off a good dyke vest with me new haircut. fo sho.

they are called Band LeGrand. ((still giggling))

we checked out their site so we didn't waste our time breaking the study routine ((that had hardly started)) and they seemed... interesting... so we packed up and went to andys. there weren't many other people there. ((five or six?)) and i think some of them were in other bands for that night...

it's got to be a rough gig touring through denton to do a small show on a tuesday...

more people had gathered by the end of their set, but they were still plenty energetic throughout. amazing performers.

also, they had a legit piano and amps that looked like they were from 1976.

the singer played some mean pianer on about half of the songs. also, he had a wicked profile with large nose that hooks downward and a chin that jutts out to his nose. awkwardly amazing. their finale was the song we had heard on their website. this is the jam. go listen to it. it ends with some wicked piano that was played with an oldschool george washingtonesque wig. ((badass!!))

also, he played while standing on his stool and did jumps and flips off his piano.

it was a fucking intense show.

band legrand.

do it.

mengtar loves narcissists.

not in an ooo yeah, oh baby oh baby way... but in more of an i could chill with that mofo because they're practically bballa sort of way.

it's whatever.

by onepm i had realized that my whole day from the beginning was a bad idea. a new game was played at work. last cup didn't stand a chance to our new game of get sick and go home early game. the only stipulation was that you had to get sick by drinking WAY too much decaffeineted coffee.

fuck decaf.

i drank too much shitty coffee and was soo close to vomiting my very being all over the og. whatever. i banked and got over it.

legit.

((special note on bad idea from the beginning exceptions: morning sex and pre-work starbucks were great ideas. that is all.))

received a text message from the original ax informing me that ray davis and pocket full of blues was playing up at his bar, texas 8ball, tonight. and that they are "way badass"

i made a cameo. ((special note: any bar appearance lasting under an hour and a half is known as a cameo... starting now))

i enjoyed them. not as bluesy or jazzy or mellow as their name made them appear, but apparently i shouldn't name bands. it fit. they grooved like mofos and i thoroughly enjoyed myself. homeboy was not a fan.

((special note: homeboy pays dumb bitches to wipe their assholes...wow... just wow.))

iwrite music homeboy hates. homeboy equals hater... starting... NOW!

i'll blog the rest of my bar napking later. it's bedtime.

ps, bx says hi.

soo... sunday's show was alright, but good times were had.

a shallow grave was much better than expected. ((i was fully expecting them to blow ass, especially because they went on at 7.)) but i enjoyed it. they play very well together.

some piana chic was on next and blew more ass than i had expected a shallow grave to blow. wow. don't get me wrong, she had moments of great talent, but her performance quality sucked intensely.

just before leaving for kyle's to get some green on, i got another call from john. at least this time he only waited a week to call me? it was good to hear from him. still miss him.

came back, drank more. it was whatever.

i got a less-than-friendly 6am wake-up call from michael the next morning reminding me that i was supposed to bring him to the airport. fuck.

and he didn't buy me breakfast, smoke, or gas. he can fuck himself. i won't even pretend his racist jokes are funny anymore. fuck.

i don't really remember much else that has happened recently.

i went to bed extremely happy the other night. woke up even happier. then there were pancakes. that was a great day.

note to self: stop being shady.

also, apparently daniel has been arrested... again...

::sigh::

take care of your tickets, kids.

my right arm is covered in bug bites, bruises, burns and scratches. however, my left side is blank. i feel abstract.

i would also like to repeal my movement to not text me.

made some changes.

i can now be texted.

that is all.

that was a lie. that is not all.

HAPPY DISCOVERY CHANNEL SHARK WEEK!!!! i will not leave my futon.

except for tonight. come see A Shallow Grave and ?TrebucheT? tonight at Hailey's. i'll get there around 7 and will probably be there all night. call. OR TEXT ((yay)).

whatever.
travis and i drove to deep ellum to watch miles rock the fuck out at the curtain club tonight. crashsight = ridiculously awesome. i love their music and their onstage performance is awesomely energetic. adverbs are our friends.

abby and justin were no-shows. claim money. whatever.

also playing was industry6. musically descent. onstage presence was definitely lacking. energy scored about a -3.

zombies. yes, zombies.

between bands travesty and i ordered a couple beers. some dude named clint or glen pulls me over and asks if t-funk is my boyfriend. i say no. he buys me a drink. i'm okay with this. i don't manipulate people into buying me drinks. however, i don't argue. that would be impolite.

we talk for a bit and travis starts watching industry6. however, he has moved to just outside of "get me the fuck out of here" range. mistake #1, baller. however, later he tells me that he's going to buy me another beer. i turn around and order and then he invites me over to his place after the show. i told him no because i was driving travis home also. luckily at this point it becomes slightly less awkward because he came back to stand by me. then clint/glen gets mad and refuses to pay for the beer because i won't sleep with him.

boys: do not let this happen. ever. this is grounds for revokation of baller-status.

that is all.

also, finch's album say hello to sunshine = double baller status.

Saturday, July 28, 2007

tonight: crashsight. 11pm. curtain club.
tomorrow: a shallow grave. 8pm. hailey's.

with bells on, fuckers.

Saturday, July 14, 2007

also, i still haven't found anyone to go to the metal show with me tomorrow at ur moms.

maybe because this is how the conversation usually goes.

mengtar says:

hey, want to go to a metal show tomorrow?

anyonex says:

maybe, where is it?

mengtar says:

ur moms.

anyonex says:

whatever.

jx was out of town this weekend for drum corps and shit. it was lonely without him. i worked double shifts every day, but still had to try filling every extra hour to keep my mind off missing him.

friday night i went down to the curtain club in dallas to catch a friend's band. crash sight. they were pretty fucking good. a lot better than i thought they were going to be. i was impressed.

saturday night i chilled with basically the same people and hung out at ax's apartment. her cat dez hogged the couch. her boyfriend made me stay up and watch vacuum and chuck norris infomercials.

torii hunter just batted in joe mauer. 8-2. yankees lead.

it was really nice getting jx back home. to fuck him, to sleep next to him, to be held by him. it's hard knowing that after two years i'm going to be giving it all up soon.

we saw grindhouse, the new tarantino/rodriguez film at the movie tavern today. it was awesome. the first half was rough because i was trying to eat the whole time... and it was pretty gross to watch... but the second half of the first half was just plain funny. the second part of the double feature film was absolutely awesome. i laughed. hard.

naveen andres ((sayid, the hottie in lost)) was in the first feature. i love that guy.

apparently the girl that was our server at the tavern also spins at tjs on wednesday nights. interesting. i caught an"i'm trying to pick you up" vibe from jx when he introduced himself to her. it made me nauseous and i cried a little bit. he didn't notice.
